These solutions rely on algorithms capable of automatically detecting and identifying objects of interest in the sectors of intelligence, defense, and aeronautics.

Since its integration into Safran in September 2024, Safran.

AI also contributes to the transformation of the group, applying AI solutions to the fields of industry 4.0. For example, AI-assisted automated image analysis can assist controllers in charge of inspecting critical parts by helping them detect possible anomalies from digital images.

The Challenges Of The Position

Within Safran.

AI, you will pilot the development and integration of cutting-edge AI solutions for the embedded vision of Safran cameras and viewfinders. Your role will consist of proposing, adapting, and industrializing the latest advances in image restoration, object detection and classification, target tracking, semantic segmentation, instance segmentation, and multi-sensor data fusion. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping the next generations of AI-Augmented Safran cameras and viewfinders.

Attention:
The ability to obtain a Defense clearance is mandatory for this position.

Your scope will include, but is not limited to, the following aspects:

  • Research and innovation: → Analyze the state of the art in vision on alternative neural network architectures, training strategies, data process strategies, and propose pragmatic solutions for industrial applications. → Experiment and validate advanced architectures on real use cases.
  • Advanced development and optimization: → Design and optimize vision models for constrained embedded environments (latency, memory, energy, real-time). → Adapt models for maximum operational efficiency (quantization, distillation, pruning, or lightweight architectures). → Deploy solutions on embedded platforms (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson AGX) ensuring their robustness and industrial performance.
  • Technical leadership: → Contribute actively to Safran's expertise chair on the integration of the latest generation AI models in Safran AI-Augmented viewfinders, robots, drones. → Disseminate best practices and feedback to the technical community of Safran (training, workshops, documentation). → Collaborate with Dev Ops/MLOps, hardware, and safety of operation teams to ensure the industrialization of the proposed solutions.
  • Strategic monitoring: → Anticipate trends in AI for vision and propose technology roadmaps aligned with Safran's operational needs.
About You

Experience:

4 to 5 years minimum in research or industrial development in vision, with proven expertise in advanced image processing or image analysis problems (detection, classification, tracking, segmentation).

Ideal profile:
Doctor in AI/computer vision or equivalent experience in the industry (e.g., leadership of complex AI embedded projects).

Technical skills: → Advanced mastery of Python, C++, PyTorch, and embedded deployment tools (TensorRT, ONNX Runtime). → Expertise in optimizing models for constrained environments (latency, memory, energy). → Experience in deploying on embedded platforms and integrating with robotic systems.

Research skills: → Ability to analyze and adapt the latest scientific advances (articles, conferences) for industrial applications. → Experience in benchmarking and validating models in operational conditions.

Soft skills:

→ Scientific autonomy and technical leadership to pilot innovative projects. → Collaborative spirit: ability to work with multidisciplinary teams (AI, Dev Ops/MLOps, hardware, safety). → Industrial rigor: respect for validation processes, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
