The Maintenance Planner is responsible for overseeing maintenance workflows and increasing efficiency and effectiveness within the maintenance teams and resources in order to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Maintenance Planner will report to the Maintenance Manager and direct activities for the maintenance department in order to maintain compliance with MSHA regulations and equipment manufacturer preventative & repair maintenance. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with the operations team.
Essential Functions
- Act as primary liaison between maintenance and all other operational stakeholders
- Identify all maintenance needs throughout the plant and assimilate a comprehensive preventive maintenance plan
- Collaborate with other department leads and production supervisors on the type of work needed and the best methods for work to be performed; evaluate and review necessary procedures, materials, labor and resource material needed
- Review all planned work requests for accuracy of information and clarity: defining the scope of work, expected duration of work, materials and manpower needed, cost information, and proper work authority levels
- Work with warehouse and procurement to source necessary parts ahead of time, manage spare part usage and minimize critical spare disbursement. This includes pre-staging maintenance and repair parts before work begins.
- Obtain all resource information needed to perform the work, i.e.: equipment manuals, engineering drawings, diagrams, special procedure notes, any other instructional material required to complete the job, or equipment manufacturers spare parts lists
- Initiate request for additional help from Engineering department, when needed
- Escalate issues to Maintenance Manager that fall outside of maintenance scope or when additional consultation is needed
- Ensure compliance of maintenance related systems are used. This includes, but not limited to, CMMS, Open Invoice, and SharePoint for tracking and maintaining labor and materials.
- Other tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications , Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree in technical field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience in an industrial maintenance or technical role is required; prior experience with production related planning or scheduling is preferred
- Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail
- Proficiency in the use of computers and various technology programs to maintain records and reports for the facility; heavy Microsoft Excel use
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, machine or equipment drawings
- Demonstrated ability to write a step-by-step process to perform maintenance or technical work
- Ability to work both tactically and strategically
- Prior experience working with other subject-matter-experts and organizational department leads in order to collaborate in an efficient and effective manner
- Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license
