Engineering Operation Technician

Data Center Engineering Technician responsible for maintaining mission‑critical infrastructure and ensuring 99.999% uptime. Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and support all systems including generators, UPS/PDUs, HVAC, fire/life safety, and building management systems.

• Conduct daily building rounds to monitor and record data from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
• Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS).
• Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Perform rack installations and decommissioning within defined SLAs.
• Execute preventive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Write technical documentation to support change management programs.
• Manage daily work requests, resolve issues, and execute projects from conception to completion.
• Provide on‑site support to contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring compliance with practices, procedures, and local legislation.
• Adapt to varying schedules; shifts may be up to 12 hours and can rotate; some locations have on‑call rotations.
• Support multiple data center sites as needed.

• Willingness and ability to work in conditions with reasonable accommodations, including lifting up to 39 lb independently or 40 lb in group lifts.
• Maintain balance and perform tasks on ladders; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull objects.
• Walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and perform construction tasks as required.
• Use ear protection as required in the environment.

• Must travel or commute to data center locations as needed; travel may exceed 50 miles or be within 50 miles.
• Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training or until assigned facility is operational.
• Travel frequency varies based on business needs and facility status.

• Min 2 years experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
• Min 2 years experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.

• Associate or higher education in a related field.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• Experience working in a data center or other mission‑critical facility (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).

• Experience with fire/life safety equipment, building automation systems, and general facilities equipment.
• Knowledge of data center power and cooling systems, including generators, UPS, PDUs, wet‑cell batteries, CRAC, chillers, cooling towers, and water chemicals.
• Prior experience with SCRA units and mechanical HVAC components.

• Competitive hourly wages: $37.00 – $65.00 USD.
