Summary

The EFIN (Engineering Fix-It-Now)/Rapid Response Engineer will support station activities by providing technical support for the operation, maintenance, and testing of plant systems. The EFIN Engineer will develop engineering changes and evaluations to address emergent technical plant issues or improve plant equipment, and serve as an advocate for improving overall plant performance and reliability while maintaining the plant design basis. The position involves learning the site procedures, programs, and organization and obtaining engineering qualifications as required in the allotted timeframe.

The role also supports civil engineering issues such as excavations, cranes/lifting and rigging, temporary leak repairs, and acts as an engineering resource for day-to-day plant support for general mechanical issues.

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology. (Required)
Experience
  • Engineering levels will be commensurate with the candidate’s educational background, relevant technical experience (including engineering, maintenance, and operations), nuclear power experience, and overall qualifications.
License/Certifications
  • There is no Certification or Licensure Listed
Essential Responsibilities
  • EFIN ENGINEERING TECHNICAL SUPPORT:
    Provides technical support for operations and maintenance personnel regarding plant systems.
  • Responds to emergent plant issues by providing rapid technical evaluations, troubleshooting support, and engineering recommendations to support safe and reliable plant operation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Reviews performance of plant systems and recommends changes regarding operation, maintenance, or testing.
  • Leads the interface with other departments and regulatory agencies by leading meetings and discussions to provide specific information and analysis to questions/problems.
  • Prepares and reviews engineering documentation (calculations, specifications, analysis, drawings, evaluations, etc.).
  • Provides independent engineering support to Maintenance that requires field investigation, inspections, and solutions to problems.
  • Supports investigations and reports for apparent or root cause analysis and generates recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Reviews and evaluates industry documentation and event reports for relevant application to STP and identifies appropriate correction actions.
Special Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment including pumps, valves, piping, heat exchangers, cranes, lifting and rigging, and general civil engineering principles preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents and drawings.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills required.
Other Responsibilities
  • Accept Emergency Response Organization (ERO) position as needed.
  • Accept outage position as needed.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access.
  • Successfully complete General Employee Training (GET) as required for position.
  • Support rotational engineering duty.
Environmental &

Physical Requirements
  • Environmental and physical requirements include crouching, stooping, bending, twisting and/or lifting up to 30 lbs; ascending/descending stairs; sitting for extended periods; and spending considerable time in front of computer monitors.
Working Conditions
  • Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.
  • Travel may be required.
  • May be required to carry a phone.
Work Location
  • Site – This position requires work to be performed in the field and/or at the work site.
