Job Summary
The Estimator is responsible for providing technical expertise and accurate cost analysis for complex electrical equipment projects. Working closely with sales teams and senior leadership, you will translate engineering specifications into comprehensive commercial proposals, ensuring both technical viability and project profitability.

Technical Estimation & Proposal Development
- Interpret & Analyze:
Under the direction of an Estimating Segment Manager, interpret complex electrical plans, specifications, and contract requirements to determine project scope. - Cost Estimation:
Generate detailed estimates for low and medium voltage equipment, including panel boards, switchboards, switch gear, transformers, control systems and field services. - Proposal Creation:
Under the direction of an Estimating Segment Manager, develop professional, detailed and accurate proposals that align with project schedules, contracts and client needs. Evaluate scope, assumptions and risk to ensure estimates support project success and operational execution. - Strategic Sourcing:
Engage with suppliers to negotiate competitive pricing and manage the procurement of specialized equipment.
Collaboration & Project Support
- Cross-Functional Partnership:
Act as a technical bridge between Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Scheduling and Procurement to ensure seamless project execution throughout project life cycles. - Client Engagement:
Collaboratively work with sales teams and clients during the design phase to offer value-engineered solutions and technical support. - Lifecycle Documentation:
Maintain meticulous records and tracking through the entire project lifecycle, managing data for long-lead projects lasting up to 24 months.
Process Improvement & Growth
- Operational Excellence:
Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal estimating tools, templates, resources and workflows. - Market Expertise:
Proactively develop a deep understanding of evolving product lines, applications and market conditions to support profitable and executable estimates. - Multi-Project Management:
Successfully prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

QualificationsRequired Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Power Distribution or Switchgear industry, with a strong understanding of electrical systems and components.
- Education:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and industry-specific experience.
Required Skill/Abilities:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- High Responsiveness: Proven ability to manage inquiries and updates with a sense of urgency and professional etiquette.
- Organizational Agility: Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; prior project management experience is highly valued.
