Process Controls Specialist

Marathon Petroleum seeks a Process Controls Specialist to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations within our refining and energy facilities. You will configure, maintain, and troubleshoot DCS/PLC and instrumentation, optimize control strategies, and support startup, shutdown, and turnaround activities. Working closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams, you'll improve process performance, implement alarm and cybersecurity best practices, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards in a performance-driven, safety-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot DCS/PLC and related control systems
• Support daily operations, startups, shutdowns, and turnarounds from a controls perspective
• Optimize control loops and strategies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance to resolve control issues
• Implement and maintain alarm management and cybersecurity best practices
• Ensure controls compliance with safety, environmental, and corporate standards
• Develop and update control narratives, logic diagrams, and documentation
• Analyze process data to identify performance gaps and recommend improvements
