Performs technical and regulatory functions within the environmental department to support facility compliance with applicable environmental regulations and sound environmental practices. Develops and coordinates environmental procedures, plans, reporting, permitting activities, and site assessments.
Working ConditionsMay frequently be required to walk; sit; stand; use hands to feel and handle equipment or environmental samples; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Use of company-assigned computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift files, open file cabinets, ability to reach, and bend, and use a 2-step stool while safely lifting and lowering boxes.
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions. Ability to travel to and from work sites, meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
Functions
- Prepares, submits and maintains reports and records required for South Texas Electric Cooperative environmental compliance.
- Reviews, maintains, and develops environmentally safe work procedures.
- Coordinates spill clean-up and restoration efforts, ensuring compliance with TCEQ and EPA regulations.
- Evaluates the applicability of environmental regulations.
- Coordinates, completes and manages all water, waste, wastewater, and air-related permits and associated reporting required for each. This includes Air Permits (Title V, NSR, & PSD),
- Wastewater Permits (TPDES), Facility Response Plans, Spill Prevention, Control Countermeasure Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
- Coordinates the classification, handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste streams associated with STEC sites.
- Coordinates third-party compliance audits of the environmental program.
- Performs site assessments of potential and existing power plant locations and substation properties.
- Works to address non-compliances from in-house and third-party audits.
- Consults with third-party(ies) on the applicability of environmental regulations.
- Responds to regulatory inquiries and requests for information.
- Reviews Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for disposal and handling requirements and maintains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) cataloguing and storage system.
- Performs other duties, tasks and special projects as assigned.
Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, or related field required
Experience3 – 5 years’ experience in related environmental field preferred
License & CertificationValid Texas Driver License
