Calpine Corporation seeks a Plant Engineer II to support safe, reliable, and efficient operation of its natural gas and geothermal power plants. In this onsite role, you will provide engineering expertise for plant systems, troubleshooting equipment issues, and leading root-cause analyses. You will develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans, support outages and capital projects, and analyze performance data to improve efficiency, reliability, and environmental compliance.
Working closely with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams, you'll help drive continuous improvement, uphold strict safety and integrity standards, and contribute to Calpine's cleaner, lower-carbon energy mission.
Responsibilities
- Ensure reliable operation of natural gas and geothermal plant systems and equipment
- Perform engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause investigations for plant issues
- Develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance plans
- Support capital projects, upgrades, and plant performance improvements
- Monitor plant performance data and recommend efficiency and reliability improvements
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Prepare technical documentation, procedures, and engineering reports
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and environmental teams on daily plant needs
- Participate in outage planning, execution, and post-outage reviews
- Support continuous improvement, innovation, and risk reduction initiatives
