Responsibilities

What does a Animal Services Officer do?

As a new Animal Services Officer, your day-to-day responsibilities will be both dynamic and rewarding. You will engage in animal rescues, conduct welfare checks, and respond to calls regarding stray or lost animals. Your duties will include enforcing local animal ordinances and educating the community about responsible pet ownership.

You’ll spend time patrolling neighborhoods to ensure safety, issuing permits, and working closely with local shelters and rescue organizations. Daily interactions with the public will require strong communication skills, as you’ll address concerns and provide assistance to pet owners. Additionally, you will document cases, maintain accurate records, and participate in community outreach programs to promote animal welfare.

  • Maintain appropriate necessary certifications.

Skilled In:

  • Operate a vehicle under emergency conditions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relations with other law enforcement agencies, judicial officials, and the public.
