The City of Lampasas is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Police Officer. Starting hourly rate is $26.620, DOQ, plus overtime opportunities, certificate pay and excellent benefits.
The minimum requirements are: T.C.O.L.E. Basic Peace Officer Certification;
High School Diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred; valid State of Texas drivers’ license and good driving record. Applicant must have knowledge of law enforcement, the ability to deal with the general public and promote pro-active problem solving with police community partnership. Applicant must have the ability to pass an oral review board interview and a thorough background investigation.
Cadet Program
The City of Lampasas Police Department currently has an open Police Officer position and are considering applicants that are not certified Texas Peace Officers for the position of Police Cadet. Applicants must successfully pass all phases of the City of Lampasas Police Department’s hiring process and meet all basic requirements to enter a Police Academy. If a non-certified applicant is offered a position as a Police Cadet, the City will pay the costs associated with the Police Department’s and a Police Academy’s application and screening process.
If an applicant is hired as a Police Cadet, the applicant will be paid to attend a Police Academy as a City of Lampasas Employee to include full benefits and an hourly rate of $19.50. The Police Academy tuition, fees, and supplies will be paid by the City, and the cadet’s necessary equipment will be provided.
Once a Police Cadet successfully completes a Police Academy and becomes a Certified Texas Police Officer, the Cadet will become a Lampasas Police Officer while completing a probationary period during field training and a starting hourly rate of $26.620.
