COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE

General Statement of Duties

This is a non-supervisory position, which involves independent judgment on law enforcement matters. This position requires deputies to protect life, property and to preserve the peace and to patrol areas within the jurisdiction of Burnet County Sheriff’s Office. Other requirements are to respond to emergency calls, perform civil duties, enforce the Texas Penal Code and Traffic Code, apprehend wanted persons, make arrests and make reports of incidents of reportable offences.

Each deputy is required to perform related duties to fulfill the responsibilities of the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office as directed by the Sheriff or his designee.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability
  • Must be able to handle shift work; have the ability to work with the public in a professional manner; basic knowledge of computers; ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers and officials.
Experience and Training
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and must have graduated from high school (or have GED). Previous experience in law enforcement preferred, but not required.
Certificate and License Requirements
  • Applicant must hold a TCOLE Peace Officer License.
