The City of Manvel Animal Control Officer is responsible for patrolling the city or assigned areas of the city to enforce the City Ordinances and laws related to animal control. The City of Manvel Animal Control Division falls under the control of the City of Manvel Police Department.

• Patrol the City, impound stray animals or animals that are in violation of City ordinance, and enforce animal code violations.
• Respond to and investigate citizen complaints on animal bite and cruelty cases, and prepare documentation necessary to impound animals
• Cite citizens in violation of City animal control ordinances.
• Proactively educate the public on animal control.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Keeps records of, citations, and calls made
• Investigate complaints and answer questions related to Animal Control laws and regulations
• Personal computer skills, use of internet, electronic mail, and network
• Provides services to the general public when emergency conditions warrant it, either in preparation for, or as a reaction to, one or more disastrous events such as: a civil disturbance, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, flood, ice storm, fire, chemical accident including a hazardous material spill, possible public exposure to hazardous conditions, or other disasters which threaten the safety of the citizens

• Training and Experience
• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Animal Control Certification or completion of required course within one year of employment
• Must posses a valid vehicle operators license with a clear driving record.
• Knowledge and Skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with the general public
  • Knowledge of municipal government operations is preferred
  • Skilled in prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Skilled in interpreting and explaining applicable laws, codes, ordinances, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Personal computer skills including internet, electronic mail, and network
  • Basic data entry skills necessary
  • Skilled in mediating and diffusing hostile situation
  • Skilled in Exercising judgment and discretion
