Job DescriptionJob Summary: Plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of the athletic training program for student athletes. Work under the direction of the team physician to carry out activities in the following areas: prevention, evaluation, emergency treatment, physical reconditioning and rehabilitation of injuries.
QualificationsRequired
Education/Certification:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited athletic training program.
- Current Texas Athletic Training License.
- Current adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) certification.
Preferred:
- Certification through NATA BOC.
- Certification to teach in the state of Texas or be willing to obtain teaching certification.
- Prior Experience working in the secondary level.
- Familiarity with Rank One Software Program.
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Ability to provide injury prevention and rehabilitation services.
- Ability to provide emergency care.
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and ability to apply appropriate treatment to treat student athletic injuries.
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Writing composition capabilities; negotiation skills, familiarity and marketing functions.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
Rank One, Basic Social Media Competency.
Experience: Two to Five years of experience as an athletic trainer in high school or college or prior work in the medical profession.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Aid in overseeing the District Athletics Programs.
- Work in conjunction with campus nurses, Director of Athletics, and athletic staff.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents including medical, incident, and treatment records as required.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical personnel, coaches, and other staff.
- Write routine reports and/or correspondences.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Be available to supervise and treat student athletics during athletics periods and attend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned by Director of Athletics.
- Prepare athletes for games and practices by conducting evaluations and using tape, wraps, splints, braces, and other protective devices as needed.
- Fit injured athletes with specialized equipment and oversee its use.
- Respond to emergencies and make quick, independent judgments about how to deal with injuries.
- Coordinate scheduling of athletic physical examinations and screening.
- Maintain an inventory of training supplies and equipment. Requisition additional supplies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics.
