Responsibilities

  • Experience: Experience in medical office or clinic setting preferred.
  • Physical and Mental Requirements
    :
    Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting, and standing. Some bending, stooping, and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.
  • Direct patient flow to and from exam rooms.
  • Take and record vital signs, current complaint, and history.
  • Recheck all information sheets for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist the provider in the exam/ treatment of patient, including injections, immunizations, and other procedures by physician order or standing order.
  • May perform in-clinic lab tests or draw blood for outside laboratory tests.
  • Provide patient education as directed by provider.
  • Document all patient contact information.
  • Prepare exam rooms and instruments as appropriate to anticipated utilization including cleaning and sterilizing of instruments.
  • File reports in charts.
  • Patient referrals to providers, as necessary.
  • Processing medication refill requests
  • Order and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate with patients by phone, including screening phone calls for providers, answering patient questions to his/her ability, calling patients as needed for recheck or with lab results, and documenting all communication in the chart.
  • Maintain the clinic's inventory of drugs and biologicals in keeping with the Clinical Operational Procedures.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager, Clinic’s Clinical Coordinator, and/or the provider supervising.
Job Qualifications
  • Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
  • Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere.
  • Interacts with patients, family members, medical staff members, and other department managers on a continuous basis.
  • Conducts patient satisfaction surveys as required.
  • Follows safety guidelines and infection control policies for the hospital district.
