Social Worker IV (Social Work Supervisor)
Essential Job Functions• Works regular hours with occasional rotating schedules, extended shifts, or overtime as needed.
• Oversees the social work program and maintains policies and procedures, updating them annually.
• Participates in leadership teams to ensure appropriate programming and provides reports on staff recommendations, coverage, training needs, budgetary matters, and program status.
• Review social assessments, recovery plans, and discharge plans to ensure psychosocial, economic, and physical needs of clients are met.
• Provides clinical and administrative supervision to Social Workers: reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, hiring, scheduling, establishing performance measures, evaluating performance, giving feedback, recommending development, personnel and disciplinary actions, and approving leave.
• Monitors quality of service delivery through monthly audits, weekly case consultation, monthly chart reviews, and training of the treatment team when issues arise.
• Oversees clinical treatment services: assessments, individual, group, and family therapy, and quarterly monitoring of treatment sessions.
• Coordinates client discharges, collaborating with client, family, interdisciplinary team, and community resources; monitors monthly and reports to the Provision of Care committee.
• Ensures the department complies with facility Continuous Quality Improvement programs, Joint Commission and CMS standards, and other applicable regulations.
• Participates in disaster response and continuity of operations as required, which may involve alternate shift patterns or locations.
- Knowledge of mental illness and emotional components of physical illness

- Ability to develop treatment plans, communicate effectively, and supervise others
Licensed as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Texas, pursuant to the Texas Board of Social Work Examiners.
Initial Screening Criteria- Licensed in the State of Texas as a LMSW or LCSW
- At least one year of experience supervising social services work
- At least two years of experience working directly with individuals with mental health or substance use disorders in a treatment or support setting
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, and Employee Misconduct, as well as the List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Males aged 18–25 must register with the Selective Service. All applicants must be at least 18 years old; applicants for the Waco Center for Youth must be 21 years old.
The position may require flexibility in work hours, overtime, and extended hours. Compliance with the HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required. Employees must be vaccinated for hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, influenza and other vaccines as required; those who opt out of influenza vaccination may need to wear a mask or follow protective measures.
