Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a Physician or mid-level provider by performing the following duties.

• Interview patients and record office duties such as measuring vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height) and medical history in patient charts.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination.
• Drape patients, position instruments, and hand instruments and materials to the provider as directed.
• Inventory and order medical supplies and materials.
• Call medical facilities to schedule patients for tests.
• Give injections or treatments and log this information as required.
• Schedule appointments for ancillary services.
• Maintain office and patient records.
• Maintain equipment logs.
• Perform lab controls and in-house lab testing.
• Manage inventory and proper handling of stocked medications.
• Handle difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to customer needs.
• Understand computer software and have general knowledge of an electronic medical record program.
• Assist in all areas of the clinic as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

• High school diploma or GED and a Medical Assistant certificate from college or technical school.
• Medical Assistant certification from a certifying institution accredited by the Medical Assistant program.
• BLS certification.
• Three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Medical Assistant certification required and BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
