Location:

Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center – Milwaukee, WI

Position:
Full time (0.9 FTE) – Shift: Power Shift 09:30‑22:20, every 4th weekend, holiday rotation

Hours per week: 36 (3 × 12‑hour shifts 09:30‑22:20, or 06:30‑19:00 weekdays)

Pay Range: $33.05 – $49.60 per hour

Sign‑On Bonus: $15,000 (possible loan forgiveness up to $21k) – Bonuses: up to $6,000 per year

Major Responsibilities
  • Use respiratory therapy processes to support patient assessment employing pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiographs, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, blood gases, and electrolytes.
  • Identify and address special needs of patient population specific to department services.
  • Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non‑critical care venues.
  • Assist physician with bedside or other procedures as applicable.
  • Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician orders and patient‑driven respiratory protocols.
  • Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshoot, and identify need for service/repair.
  • Educate patients on therapy purpose, technique, self‑care, and disease management.
  • Facilitate clinical problem solving and collaborate with other departments to provide education on patient management.
  • Adapt to policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and special duties as assigned, maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills; provide clear, concise, timely patient handoff.
  • Promote a culture of safety, recognize and apply safe measures, report safety events and near misses, identify potential safety issues, and assist in corrective actions.
  • Teach, educate, and precept new teammates, orientees, and students.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development across the lifespan; assess and interpret data for patient assessment relative to age‑specific needs.
Qualifications
  • License:
    Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the state of practice.
  • Credential:
    Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within 12 months of application (NBRC), or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) (if credential received prior to Jan
    12023).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA).
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited respiratory care program with a minimum of an associate degree.
  • Experience:

    No experience required.
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities:
    Effective organizational, interpersonal and problem‑solving skills; decision making for patient care and equipment use; proficient with EMR and email; excellent communication; human relation skills; initiative; time management; ability to multitask and prioritize.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifts 50lb objects from knee to waist, from floor to waist (occasionally), 40lb at waist, 20lb to overhead.
  • Push/pull 30lb of force occasionally for long distances.
  • Perform stand‑pivot transfer from bed to chair; sliding transfer of 150lb patient on a sheet across 2ft with a second person.
  • Utilize safe body mechanics at all times.
