Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Position Summary
The Prairie Recovery Center is seeking a full‑time Patient Care Assistant to serve as an active part of the patient treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to clients. This is an exciting opportunity to learn about mental health or substance abuse patient care in a fast‑paced environment with a multidisciplinary treatment team.
ShiftsOpenings for day shifts (7am‑7pm). Candidates must be flexible to shift scheduling, including weekends, though we will work to try and meet the needs of candidates.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and establishing and maintaining good health by using effective, therapeutic communication techniques.
- Conduct environmental rounds of the facility for safety, and document observations.
- Facilitate patients’ participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
- Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required; a degree from an accredited college or university in social work, recreational therapy or an appropriate therapeutic discipline is preferred, though not required.
Experience:
One year of related experience, with prior work experience in the recovery space, mental health and/or substance abuse treatment preferred.
Licensure:
Must maintain a valid Texas driver’s license.
