Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, this position fills orders for parenteral and enteral medications, monitors patient drug therapies and provides drug information. The pharmacist supervises and directs support personnel, and is responsible for the procurement, storage, dispensing, supervision and management of all legend and non‑legend drugs for the hospital while maintaining complete and accurate records of all drug transactions.
Job Responsibilities- Prepare and dispense medication orders per physician requests according to established policies, procedures and protocols, including interpreting orders and maintaining accurate patient medication profiles.
- Ensure safe, appropriate, cost‑effective medication therapies, monitor drug therapy regimens, assist with pharmacokinetics consult service and recommend antibiotic changes based on culture data.
- Document all clinical activities, participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities, and present orientation, education and training programs to pharmacy, medical, nursing and other staffs.
- Supervise pharmacy support personnel, verify daily activities, conduct performance appraisals, and maintain a timely, organized pharmacy service environment.
- Maintain competence by keeping a current pharmacist license, attending education and training programs, and completing all mandatory competence assessments.
- Assist in cost‑containment development and report potential risks to patients, implementing procedures to eliminate or minimize risk.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including guidelines for conduct, corporate compliance, diversity and confidentiality.
- Apply principles of customer service and continuous quality improvement in day‑to‑day activities.
- Completion of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy Degree.
- One year of experience as a Pharmacist in a hospital setting required.
- Current NC state license as a Registered Pharmacist.
- Current and active BLS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
