Referral Clerk

Location: Hamilton

JOB SUMMARY:

Review Insurance and Benefits, send to appropriate dept to have patients be scheduled. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receives internal and external referrals to run eligibility and benefitsa. Receives referral form from medical provider to provide continuity of patient care.b. Obtains insurance information and contacts carrier for authorization if appropriate.c. Obtains benefit information and estimation to provide to the patient their responsibilities for upfront collection.d. Calls requested consultant to schedule an appointment within timeframe indicated.

Copies all pertinent medical records and mails or faxes to consultant

Cross trains to provide support to business office and medical records OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:

Consistently maintains confidentiality of patient records

Adheres to and supports organizational policy and procedures

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

A.

Education:

High school graduate or equivalent

B. Personal job-related skills:
Verbal and written communication skills.

C. Licensure, registry or certification:
None required.

D. Experience
1. Prior work experience:
One year experience in a medical clinic environment
2. Technical training:
None required

E. Physical and mental requirements:
Duties of position require intermittent walking, sitting, standing and lifting up to 40 pounds.
