General Summary

Our goal is to provide a superior level of cleaning quality in an assigned area to maintain a clean working environment.

Ability to perform all phases of housekeeping or janitorial duties and to provide a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and satisfying surroundings for hospital staff, patients, and visitors. The housekeeper promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odor. Housekeeper must follow the required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, or moving of objects/materials/and or the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, body fluids containing blood in accordance with the OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen Standard and HHS Exposure Control Plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, beds, gurneys, examination table, restrooms, offices, and other common areas within the hospital environment to a clean aseptic standard.
  • Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms, special procedure rooms such as surgical, Labor and Delivery, Emergency Rooms, Cath Lab, Burn Unit, Neonatal, and Pediatrics following HHS and procedures.
  • Collects and disposes of regular trash, RMW (Regulated Medical Waste), and recycling materials.
  • Collect and remove soiled linen into appropriate bin.
  • Replenishes hand soap, hand sanitizers, other supplies as needed.
  • Dust mops floors with microfiber using standard operating procedure.
  • Wet mop floors with disinfectant using microfiber material following standard operating procedure.
  • Handles various types of cleaning chemicals. Must comply with all regulations such as OSHA, EPA, The Joint Commission, and State Health Department and be able to read and understand SDS.
  • Must use appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces, furniture, spot wash walls, clean and polish fixtures, air vents, handrails, blinds, windows and sills and other items as required.
  • Be able to work different shifts as needed.
  • Uses supplies wisely and keeps assigned janitor's closet in clean and neat condition.
  • Reports any maintenance work order to supervisor.
  • Always uses safety precaution in all housekeeping services.
  • Adheres to key control and  policy.
  • Must adhere to HIPAA policy at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, able to communicate, read, write, and understand English language.
  • Must have at least one year housekeeping experience in the hospital/health care environment.
Working Conditions
  • Be able to walk extended periods of time, bend, kneel, push, pull, and stretch as required.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Employees must be able to obtain and maintain any base/installation access credentials required by the location.
