Location: Seminole

The Activity Director assists with coordination and executing a quality daily activity program for the residents of MHCC. These activities may include music, games, art, physical exercise, socials, outings, and other activities designed to give residents opportunities for healthy self expression, mental stimulation, and creative outlets.

Job Qualifications Education
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure, Registry and Certifications
  • Certified Activity Director with the State of Texas preferred.
Personal Job Related Skills
  • Ability to cope with residents of varying degrees of emotional and mental stability in a compassionate and professional manner.
Experience Prior Work Experience
  • One year in health care facility in activity related position.
Technical Training
  • None required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities

Assists with conducting and managing a stimulating activity program for residents of MHCC

  • Coordinates and initiates activities in a pleasant and beneficial manner
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of an annual activities budget
  • Assists with evaluating the overall effectiveness of the program and modifies to meet residents’ needs and interests
  • Documents patients’ progress on a timely basis
  • Participates in developing and organizing the activity calendar to meet state, federal, and Hospital District expectations with consideration to the residents’ needs and interests
  • Promotes and notifies prospective residents, families, and community groups of Activity Program and its goals
  • Controls and maintains equipment and supplies used in Activity Program
  • Assists, encourages, and participates with residents in activities as needed

  • Practices proper phone etiquette, identifying self and department
  • Reports adverse events regarding patients, guests, or self to supervisor immediately
