Description

Position Summary:
The Assistant Banquets Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the success of events at Camp Lucy. This position requires a diverse skill set as duties may vary based on the evolving needs of the organization. As the main point of contact for clients on event days, you will ensure a seamless experience and satisfaction. You will work closely alongside our Executive Chef and his team in all aspects of event production, ensuring that events are executed as planned and to the highest standards.

The role is based at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs and reports directly to the Banquets Manager.

Primary

Job Duties:

  • Event Management:
  • Serve as the Banquets Manager on event days, ensuring a balanced distribution of events within the banquets department.
  • Oversee that all events have the necessary equipment and resources, maintaining clear communication between team leads.
  • Staff Management:
  • Manage all staff infractions, including writing up reports and issuing verbal warnings with managerial approval.
  • Identify high-performing staff for promotion and recommend raises based on performance evaluations.
  • Inventory Oversight:
  • Manage inventory levels for internal hard equipment and order supplies as needed, including disposables, service ware, and service pieces.
  • Track audiovisual (AV) inventory and ensure all serving pieces are adequately stocked for events and venues.
  • Standard Development:
  • Develop and enforce standards set by the Banquets team, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent quality of service.
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors, including wedding planners and rental companies, to coordinate event requirements seamlessly.
  • Respond to incidents outside of the Front of House (FoH) staff’s typical responsibilities, ensuring all issues are handled professionally and promptly.
  • Collaboration with Account Specialists:
  • Work closely with Account Specialists to review and redline Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) on Wednesdays and finalize details during Thursday BEO meetings.
  • Inventory and Equipment Management:
  • Assist with end-of-month (EoM) liquor inventory and conduct non-alcoholic beverage inventory to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of AV items, ensuring that all equipment is maintained, prepared, and ready for use at events.
  • Suggest new equipment purchases to enhance capabilities and meet all AV requests effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2-3 years of experience in banquets, events, or a related field, demonstrating leadership capabilities.

    Skills:

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on client satisfaction and team collaboration.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving

    Skills:

    Ability to respond effectively to unforeseen issues, exhibiting calm under pressure.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with AV equipment and event technology, with the ability to provide recommendations for improvements.
