Location: PattisonDirector of Talent & Human Resources
Responsible for leading the human resources department in overall management of the district's human resources function and finding innovative ways to recruit and retain exceptional team members. Implement legally sound and effective human resources management programs, policies, and practices. Support the recruitment and retention of human talent in the district. Support district leadership in planning and implementation of human resources and talent programs, including: staffing, creative compensation, performance appraisal, employee engagement, and recruitment and retention of qualified and talented team members.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree
Master's degree
Valid Teacher Certification
Valid Administrator Certification
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of selection, training, and supervision of personnel
Knowledge of wage and salary, benefits, and performance appraisal administration
Knowledge of general and education employment law and hearing procedures
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to contribute positively and work as a part of a team
Ability to solve novel tasks and use innovative ideas to support staffing and forward progress
Experience:
2 years teaching experience
5 years supervisory experience (Assistant Director, Director, Assistant Principal, Principal) in Texas public schools; can be a combined 5 years
Major Responsibilities and Duties Human Resources Department Management
Assist in implementing plan for addressing HR training needs throughout the school district and develop and plan training programs to meet the established needs for assigned areas.Direct the day-to-day operations of the human resources department, including planning, development, coordination, and evaluation of operations and implementing department goals and objectives.Oversee and coordinate employee performance appraisal system and ensure that supervisors have proper training. Ensure every employee is appraised each year and it is filed in their personnel file.Assist with selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of HR staff and make sound recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.Ensure district compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.Evaluate current human resources practices implementation; recommend improvements based on best practice.Support leaders in the management of grievances and/or employee legal issues.Employment
Process applications, prepare contracts, information containing hiring and resignations, certification reference checks, background checks, etc. to process and hire new employees.Ensure that all teachers are highly qualified and have the appropriate credentials for assignments; monitor DOI teachers and tracking of requirements to full completion and certification.Maintain a system for new employees to acquire appropriate information, support, and training necessary for success on the job.Ensure an efficient, positive and welcoming experience during onboarding that promotes the district and welcomes new team members to the district.Lead and oversee all areas related to workers comp, unemployment and FMLA.Manage Vacant Positions:
Posting, working with supervisors to ensure positions are filled in a timely mannerCompensation and Benefits
Oversee the district's compensation program; create a book for approved compensation plans, benefits/health insurance,etc; manage benefits and leave.Input and reconciliation of employee benefits to payroll deductions each month.Provide oversight of the district's leave, health insurance, optional employee benefits, workers' compensation, and unemployment compensation benefit programs including overseeing relationship with insurance vendors and third party administrators.Human Resource Department will initiate and input any and all salary additions and changesTalent
Lead and oversee an effective substitute management system that ensures high quality substitutes and filled positions in classrooms.Lead recruitment and retention of employees through creative ideas, employee engagement, active recruiting of highly talented individuals.Seek out and attend job fairs that will allow the district to recruit highly talented individuals; keep information of candidates and pass along to appropriate district staff for hiring.Lead talent acquisition and recruitment strategies designed to attract, select, and hire highly qualified employees, with particular attention to hard-to-fill positions and future workforce needs.Develop strategies to strengthen employee engagement, recognition, and retention.Develop and implement a comprehensive employee engagement strategy that strengthens employee connection, belonging, and commitment to the district's mission.Create and implement recognition and appreciation strategies that celebrate employee contributions, reinforce organizational values, and foster a culture of excellence.Records
