IT Support, Hardware Engineer

Job OverviewJoin our dynamic AWS team and become a critical guardian of global cloud infrastructure! The Data Center Technician role involves hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and on‑call rotation to support AWS data centers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and troubleshooting of network components.
- Respond to operational incidents affecting service availability and carry out routine network, server hardware, and OS repairs.
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on operational issue analysis.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds.
- Work in cramped, elevated, industrial environments and on ladders, stairs, gangways.
- Stand and walk up to 8+ hours a day; work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations including nights, weekends, holidays.
- Travel as needed to data center locations (under 50 miles for commute, over 50 miles for travel). May work temporarily at alternative sites during training.
Data Center Technicians take ownership of technical issues, troubleshoot and resolve root causes, maintain SLA through proactive detection, act without extensive direction, and innovate processes for effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications- 18+ months of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- 18+ months of computer layer 1/2 networking experience (troubleshooting and repair).
- Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field.
- Industry standard certifications (CompTIA, CCENT, Network+).
- Understanding of Linux or similar operating systems.
- Behavioral interviewing, hiring, training, and onboarding experience.

Compensation & BenefitsThe base salary range is 30.00 – 54.00 USD hourly (USA, TX, Wilmer). The package includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units (RSUs), and comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, vision, life insurance, mental health support, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
