You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
As a Network Deployment Technician, you will help build and maintain a cloud computing infrastructure across a number of data center and colocation sites in the Americas. This role may involve some periods working independently and requires the ability to maintain excellent communication.
Key Job Responsibilities- Installation of routers, switches, and DWDM hardware.
- Assist in troubleshooting fiber optic and copper cabling.
- Create colocation remote hand requests for new capacity installations.
- Support project leads to deliver network capacity projects.
- Help to resolve data center and facility issues.
- Support small to mid-size network deployment projects.
- Build relationships with internal and partner teams.
- Participate in site audits to ensure safety and quality meets AWS standards.
- Provide status updates to stakeholders via internal tools.
- Physical requirements:
lift and rack equipment up to 40 lbs and work in cramped or elevated spaces with health & safety guidelines. - Up to 50 % travel, predominantly local but may include domestic and international travel.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ year of computer networking experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift and rack equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations with health & safety guidelines.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
- Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
- Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
