On-Site Service Engineer – Ai Data Center
Location:
Childress, TX 79201 Pay rate: $40.00 - $41.61/hr
Work schedule:
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Must be flexible to support altered shift hours and mandatory on-call rotations as required by data center operations.
The On-Site Service Engineer (OSE) delivers hands-on, customer-facing technical support within enterprise data center and server environments, including next-generation AI platforms. This role focuses on maintaining peak system uptime, performing hardware installations, and resolving complex system failures. Prior artificial intelligence platform experience is not required; the position demands strong foundational knowledge of data center server infrastructure, enterprise component replacement, and a commitment to meticulous real-time documentation.
JobSpecifications
Key Responsibilities
- Server Maintenance & Deployment:
Provide critical on-site support for Dell server and enterprise data center systems. Perform physical server builds, system swaps, full deployments, and preventive maintenance. - Component-Level Replacement:
Execute precise hardware modifications and component updates, including the replacement of CPUs, memory modules, power supplies, GPUs, and associated server infrastructure. - Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Diagnose system-level faults across physical hardware, system firmware, and operating systems. Isolate failures and execute step-by-step resolution paths, escalating complex matters to engineering teams when appropriate. - Operational Alignment:
Follow provided standard Plans of Action (POA) from corporate support groups to ensure consistent service delivery. - Real-Time Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive, detailed, and accurate real-time logs of all service actions, parts utilized, and system updates to feed into shared engineering knowledge bases. - Customer Relations:
Communicate clearly, directly, and proactively with internal teams and data center clients during active service events.
Must Have Skills / Requirements
- Data Center Fundamentals: 3–5+ years of experience in enterprise technical support, field service engineering, or infrastructure data center roles.
- Hardware
Competency:
Verifiable hands-on experience building servers, diagnosing enterprise motherboards, replacing core components (CPUs, GPUs, RAM, PSUs), and conducting full server chassis replacements. - Operating System Literacy:
Foundational familiarity with Linux or related enterprise-grade operating systems. - Documentation Standards:
Strong documentation habits with a history of entering detailed technical notes under operational timelines. - Commute & Proximity:
Candidates must reside within a 45-minute maximum commute of the Childress, TX site. - Clearance & Citizenship:
United States Citizenship is strictly required for this position. Candidates must possess the ability and willingness to obtain (or have previously held) a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Hands-on experience working with liquid or water-cooled server infrastructure.
- Active vendor-specific hardware certifications (e.g., Dell Certified Enterprise Engineer).
- Practical personal technical experience, such as custom PC building or maintaining personal technology labs.
Physical Demands & Environment
- Physical capability to lift, carry, and maneuver enterprise hardware weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfort operating independently within high-density, fast-paced, and business-critical data center environments.
Education & Experience
- Experience:
3–5+ years of experience in data center hardware or field service sectors. - Education:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent combined professional experience.

No external field travel required; 100% centralized on-site role.
