Specialist - Operational Technology

Position Summary

Energy Transfer is looking for an experienced server support professional with an eye toward automation technologies. The position is a hands‑on technical role within the Operational Technology team. Candidates will have an immediate impact utilizing experience, current solution sets, and tools to continue supporting the current environment. Candidates should be able to closely collaborate with team members, other OT teams, and customers to develop robust, well‑organized plans to implement solutions within short time‑frames with minimal risk and interruption of service.

• Help maintain and monitor Veeam Backup and Recovery servers and jobs
• Support other team members with Veeam administrative functions to ensure all backups are successful
• Monitor and maintain all servers in plant domains
• Support all file services, backups, and server patching efforts
• Architect solutions for process improvement
• Automate and/or write/edit scripts to automate job functions
• Cross‑train other team members, share information with others, document all processes
• Support other team members with various administrative functions and troubleshooting efforts
• Participate in the on‑call rotation
• Be part of the team responsible for disaster recovery
• Work on incidents, tasks, change requests, and server new builds assigned to the team
• Troubleshoot issues to resolution
• Participate in project delivery work, including device configuration, planning, and vendor coordination
• Work with users to understand their needs and with OT personnel to develop effective system solutions for assigned applications
• Provide succinct and timely, up‑to‑date project and system documentation, including drawings
• Perform hardware and software upgrades for new and existing equipment as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related technical disciplines, or equivalent certification with practical experience and 2–5 years of related experience
• Ability to handle multiple workloads simultaneously (multi‑task)
• 3+ years experience supporting or using backup and recovery technologies
• 3+ years experience supporting large production server environments
• 3+ years experience with SCOM or other monitoring tools
• 3+ years experience with SCCM, specifically server patching and reporting
• 2+ years experience with scripting tools, such as Power Shell, reading and writing scripts
• Experience working with SQL and writing SQL queries, ideally relating to SCCM and backup solutions
• Effective written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills for a team environment
• Strong dedication to quality customer service and superior telephone etiquette for interacting with customers, vendors, peers, and management
• Sense of urgency, individual responsibility, and willingness to accept constantly changing priorities

• Experience with Business Continuity Plans (disaster recovery plans)

• Experience with Linux
• Project management experience or certification a plus
• Preferred someone with enterprise automation and SCADA system experience

• Office working conditions
• Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing
• Up to 25% travel required, including overnight travel
• Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings that may include hazardous materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions, and loud machinery; appropriate personal protective equipment required
• Ability to carry computer equipment up to 50 pounds
