Mainframe Storage; DASD and Tape Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Perform daily storage management activities related to SMS routines, DASD pool monitoring, housekeeping batch jobs, and on‑call support.
• Troubleshoot basic space issues and perform migration and archive functions.
• Implement routine storage type changes as requested by clients to add or move volumes.
• Troubleshoot JCL errors and resolve them.
• Create and maintain core system backups.
• Login and monitor IBM TS7700 grids.
• Understand and execute the incident, change, and problem processes.
• Implement new storage solutions.
• Perform and lead disaster recovery drills and provide direction to other drill team members.
• Create and manage SMS spools.
• Configure tape and DASD hardware devices at the device level.
• Peer‑review all storage changes executed by the team.
• Administer storage software.
• Set up and troubleshoot storage replication (tape and DASD).
• Troubleshoot IBM grid failures and maintain an in‑depth understanding of monitoring and management across multiple clusters and locations.
• Lead storage restoration efforts during outages.
• Provide on‑call 7 × 24 rotation.
• Maintain GDPS knowledge.

Compensation at DXC is influenced by a variety of factors, including experience, job‑related knowledge, skills, competencies, contract‑specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The estimated compensation range for this position is $76,700 – $142,500.
