Network Engineer
The Network Technician is responsible for supporting the physical-layer network infrastructure within hyperscale AI and accelerated computing data center environments. This role focuses on deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of structured cabling systems, fiber plant infrastructure, optics, network hardware, out-of-band (OOB) management networks, and console connectivity systems.
The Network Technician serves as the primary onsite resource for physical network operations, ensuring the reliability and integrity of the network infrastructure supporting mission-critical computing environments. The role works closely with customer network engineering teams, data center operations personnel, OEM partners, and deployment teams to support network expansion, break-fix activities, and operational readiness.
This position requires strong technical discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to execute customer-directed activities within highly controlled operational environments.
How You Will Make an Impact:Fiber Plant Operations:
- Install, route, label, and maintain fiber optic infrastructure supporting production and non-production environments.
- Support MPO/MTP trunk deployments, patching, and remediation activities.
- Perform fiber testing, certification, and validation using approved testing methodologies and equipment.
- Troubleshoot physical-layer connectivity issues and support fault isolation efforts.
- Verify compliance with bend radius, cable routing, and fiber management standards.
- Support contamination prevention programs, fiber inspection, and connector cleaning procedures.
Infrastructure:
- Install, route, terminate, label, and document structured copper and fiber cabling systems.
- Support deployment and expansion activities for new racks, pods, and network infrastructure.
- Validate cabling installations against customer standards, floor plans, and port maps.
- Conduct physical audits and quality inspections of deployed network infrastructure.
- Maintain cable management systems and infrastructure documentation.
- Install, replace, and validate network hardware components, including:
- Optics and transceivers
- Network switches
- Console servers
- OOB management devices
- Patch panels and associated infrastructure
- Support directed hardware replacement and maintenance activities.
- Assist customer network engineers with troubleshooting and restoration efforts.
- Participate in hardware acceptance testing and operational readiness activities.
- Support Out-of-Band (OOB) management networks and console connectivity infrastructure.
- Install and maintain console cabling and access systems.
- Verify console connectivity and operational readiness.
- Assist with troubleshooting console access and management network issues.
- Support customer-directed changes within OOB environments.
- Support deployment of network infrastructure associated with new site launches, hall expansions, and capacity growth initiatives.
- Execute physical-layer tasks associated with network turn-up activities.
- Participate in deployment readiness reviews and acceptance testing processes.
- Coordinate with customer engineering teams during installation and commissioning efforts.
- Support operational turnover activities from deployment to production operations.
- Participate in troubleshooting and restoration activities involving physical network infrastructure.
- Support rapid replacement of failed optics, cabling, and network hardware components.
- Assist with fault isolation and escalation activities.
- Support customer-defined service level objectives and operational response requirements.
- Participate in change management and maintenance execution activities.
- Maintain accurate records of network infrastructure deployments and modifications.
- Update as-built documentation, cable records, rack elevations, and port maps.
- Verify labeling compliance and documentation accuracy.
- Track serialized assets and network hardware inventory.
- Support inventory audits and reconciliation activities.
- Adhere to all site security, access control, and operational procedures.
- Follow Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and safe work practices.
- Maintain compliance with customer network deployment standards and quality requirements.
