An established and growing concrete solutions organization is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join its operations team. This position plays a key role in ensuring the timely procurement of goods and services while maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting cost-effective purchasing strategies. PositionSummary
The Purchasing Specialist will manage the procurement process from supplier sourcing through purchase order execution and delivery. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure materials and supplies are available when needed while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and strengthen vendor partnerships. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers to meet quality, pricing, and delivery expectations
- Solicit quotes and negotiate pricing, terms, and purchasing agreements
- Prepare and manage purchase orders through the company's ERP system
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure purchasing needs are met in a timely manner
- Monitor inventory levels and proactively address potential shortages
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships while evaluating supplier performance
- Resolve purchasing issues including pricing discrepancies, damaged goods, and shipment delays
- Analyze purchasing data and spending trends to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Support ongoing process improvements and other purchasing initiatives as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
- 3-5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
- Experience using ERP systems is preferred
- Knowledge of purchasing principles, vendor management, and procurement best practices
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Professional approach to vendor and internal stakeholder relationships
