Administrator Position
The Administrator will coordinate and oversee inventory management activities and effectively work with Marketing, Business, Production Scheduling, BTD, and Shipping departments. This includes oversight of transportation of finished goods inventory between Point Comfort yards and outside terminals, partial railcar inventory control, slow-moving inventory for economy and product quality assurance, and reserving and arranging inventory for certain customers. The Administrator exercises independent judgment to maintain efficient and reasonable inventory levels.
Reviews updated production schedules and PO shipping workload to recommend and follow up on inventory top-off opportunities and coordinates interplant work by LLPC. Ensures product quality and appropriate lot combinations by reviewing and following special customer requests, established procedures, and applicable requirements. All responsibilities are performed while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.
Railcar Inventory Management:
Independently administer daily finished goods railcar inventory by evaluating production schedules, customer demand, inventory availability, transportation capacity, product quality requirements, and shipping priorities. Determine inventory utilization strategies, establish shipment priorities, resolve routine inventory conflicts, and coordinate inventory movement to ensure efficient product availability and customer service. Escalate significant inventory constraints or policy exceptions with recommended solutions.
Inventory Planning and Business
Risk Management:
Analyze inventory trends, production forecasts, customer demand, transportation constraints, inventory aging, and storage capacity to identify operational risks and opportunities. Evaluate the potential impact of inventory shortages, excess inventory, delayed shipments, and quality concerns on business performance. Develop recommendations and coordinate corrective strategies that improve inventory utilization, reduce carrying costs, maintain production quality, and support customer service objectives.
Partial Railcar Depletion:
Evaluate competing operational, quality, transportation, and customer considerations to determine whether partial railcar inventory should be depleted, topped off, reworked, repositioned, or retained. Establish priorities designed to maximize inventory utilization, minimize aging and unnecessary handling, and support production and customer requirements.
Assignment Processing:
Independently determine appropriate inventory assignments by evaluating customer requirements, product grades, quality specifications, packaging requirements, transportation availability, and inventory status. Resolve routine assignment conflicts and develop alternative solutions when available inventory, customer requirements, or shipping constraints compete. Coordinate with Marketing, Customer Service, Production Loading, Inland Traffic Rail, Administration Traffic, Technical Services, PO Shipping/Loading, and Lolita Packaging Services to determine appropriate assignments and facilitate timely shipment.
Records Maintenance:
Independently maintain and review assignment, inventory, railcar status, and shipping documentation to ensure information is accurate and current. Analyze records to identify on hold, assigned, partial, aged, or otherwise unavailable inventory and determine appropriate follow-up. Investigate discrepancies and coordinate corrective action with responsible departments to maintain accurate inventory information and prevent customer or operational issues.
