Under the direction of the Park Superintendent, this position performs complex (journey‑level) building maintenance and construction work. Responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment at Devils Sinkhole State Natural Area. Performs preventative maintenance (cleaning/inspecting) of facilities and grounds.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and trucks.
- Perform mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, land clearing, carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs, vehicle maintenance and road maintenance.
- Assist with enforcing park rules and interpretive programs/special events.
- Perform basic administrative duties and provide a high degree of customer service.
- Provide leadership to volunteer staff.
- Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
Education:
Graduation from High School or GED.
Experience:
Three years of facility, equipment or grounds maintenance experience.
Licensure:
Must possess a valid State driver’s license.
- Experience in grounds maintenance or ranch work to include the operation, maintenance of mowers, tractors, and power equipment.
- Experience in facility maintenance such as janitorial cleaning, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.
- Experience in customer service and/or public relations.
- Knowledge of work site safety.
- Knowledge of facility, equipment and ground maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and making minor repairs to park facilities.
- Knowledge of general custodial duties.
- Knowledge of natural and cultural resource management.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
- Skill in applying worker safety programs to work situations.
- Skill in performing minor repairs to vehicles and other equipment.
- Skill meeting deadlines.
- Skill in providing quality customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with co‑workers and work‑related contacts.
