Q US is seeking a Site Laborer with experience supporting line handling operations to support the DHS Customs & Border Protection Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) program. The TARS program leverages aerostat systems to provide persistent surveillance and detection capabilities for the U.S. Government across eight operational sites in locations including Puerto Rico, Florida, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. The successful candidate will have experience managing aerostat flight operations on platforms similar in size to the TARS aerostats and will be part of a flight crew supporting aerostat pre-launch, launch, ascent, transition, station keeping, and recovery.
Secondary responsibilities include recurring equipment maintenance on aerostat and radar systems, as well as site operations support (security, landscaping, and logistical functions).
- The Laborer performs tasks that require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.
- Loads and unloads trucks and other conveyances, moves supplies and materials to proper location; stacks materials for storage or binning.
- Collects refuse and salvageable materials, digs, fills, and tamp earth excavations.
- Levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake; shovels concrete and snow; cleans culverts and ditches; cuts tree, brush, and grass.
- Operates power lawnmowers and moves and arranges heavy pieces of office and household furniture, equipment, and appliance; moves heavy pieces of machinery and equipment.
- Spreads sand and salt on icy roads and walkways; picks up leaves and trash.
- GED or High School Diploma.
- 0-3 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance. Associate and Bachelor of Science degree in any technical discipline can be substituted for years’ experience.
- Ability to obtain flight operator certification.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s license required.
- Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write English fluently.
- Must be willing to work in a 24/7 shift scenario and be assigned to various shifts as required to meet mission requirements.
- Proof of U.S. residency required.
- Physical requirements:
walking, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling, reaching, lifting, sitting, and squatting. May require working in confined spaces or at high elevations for extended periods. - Weight lifting requirement of 60-80 lbs and ability to climb.
- Prior Aerostat Operator experience of any size Aerostat.
- Must pass the Aerostat basic training course for continued employment.
