Support Services Associate

- Support Services Associate – Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

This position will be responsible for performing actions necessary to ensure an efficient and comprehensive housekeeping service to Fossil Rim and its customers. Primary contacts will be with supervisor, internal staff members, and customers as needed to carry out general duties of the position.

• Ensure that facilities are in a good state of repair
• Perform trash rounds and dispose of trash
• Maintain trash cans
• Do small repairs as required
• Assist technicians with projects
• Basic carpentry
• Basic plumbing
• Inspect lighting and replace light bulbs as required
• Report maintenance issues
• Adhere to Safety and housekeeping rules
• Adhere to quality standards required by customers and Director
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance
• Inspect and change HVAC filters regularly
• Be available for after‑hours and weekend call‑out in emergencies
• Able to lift and carry 50 pounds
• Be able to bend over
• Spend up to 2/3 of the workday standing/walking
• Work outside all day in extreme heat, cold, and wet conditions
• Operate small maintenance equipment (chainsaw, weed trimmer, mower, hand tools, truck, lawn tractor)
• Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, and all safety rules and procedures

• Collect recyclable materials
• Carry out other duties as assigned

• 3 years related experience in a similar field
• Ability to operate equipment normally associated with cleaning and maintenance
• Ability to understand and follow directions given orally
• Proficiency with tools such as vacuum cleaners, polishers, carpet cleaners, drills, and saws
• Ensure compliance with Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, safety rules, and company vision, mission, values, and goals

This position is essential to Fossil Rim throughout the year, including during periods when Fossil Rim is closed due to unexpected events. All Essential employees scheduled to work must work as scheduled. The role typically involves a 5‑day workweek, often requiring flexibility and the ability to work weekends and holidays. Scheduling may be irregular, with days exceeding 8 hours and weeks exceeding five days.
