Clean the Pecos Police Department, to include offices, conference rooms, restrooms, kitchen, break rooms, parts of the jail:
The job description/summary of duties listed below is meant to serve as a guideline as to most of the duties expected to be performed by the employee functioning in this capacity. It is in no way to be considered all-inclusive, since there will, from time to time, be tasks and responsibilities assigned to maintain the daily operations of the building.
RECEIVED
Works under the immediate supervision of Chief of Police.
SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNone.
Example of Duties- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and steam cleans carpet.
- Dusts surfaces, washes glass surfaces, cleans, and polishes furniture and woodwork.
- Cleans and disinfects and replenishes restrooms and fixtures.
- Collects trash and disposes in outdoor receptacles.
- Sweeps sidewalks and picks up outdoor area.
- Maintains and cleans janitorial equipment; maintains inventory of cleaning and other supplies for area of responsibility.
- Moving, unloading, and shelving of boxes of paper in Copier Room. (Help for moving, lifting, etc. is available upon request and should be utilized.)
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Walking/Standing as needed to perform most tasks on concrete, tile, carpet, asphalt, or grass; most distances are short (5–20 ft.) but may be up to several hundred feet.
- Lifts/carries boxes of garbage bags, mop bucket (with water), and trash up to 15 lb.; frequently moves and distributes computer and copier paper onto shelves (30–50 lb.).
- Reaches overhead on a step ladder to clean desks, cabinets, and sinks; obtains cleaning agents from shelves.
- Handles boxes of garbage bags, cleaning objects (mops, vacuums, cleaning materials); loads, unloads, and replaces garbage bags, paper products, and soap.
- Uses pushing/pulling, twisting, and crouching to operate mop bucket and vacuum cleaner; uses foot controls to turn on vacuum.
- Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment; reports to Supervisor any replacement needed. Regular attendance required.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORSThe job risks exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, fumes and/or noxious odors, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREDRubber gloves, safety glasses, work gloves.
Minimum Qualifications- High School graduate or GED.
- 2 years in general housekeeping.
- Pass physical and drug test.
- Reading:
Able to read English (cleaning solution directions). - Writing:
English/Spanish. - Math:
Performs basic math in measuring cleaning solutions. - Reasoning:
Performs routine work using common sense and safety. - Managerial:
Organizes work; prioritizes tasks. - Interpersonal:
Self‑motivated, works without close supervision.
