The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. Performs complex (journey-level) motor vehicle maintenance and repair work. Work involves repairing or replacing worn or broken parts, performing preventive maintenance activities and servicing motor vehicle equipment and related gasoline, diesel, or alternative fuel engine powered equipment. May provide guidance to others. Works under general supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

• Performs maintenance, diagnosis, repair, or replacement of defective components on motor vehicles.
• Performs safety and emissions inspections.
• Exchanges, rebuilds, and overhauls motors, transmissions, differentials, carburetors, and other motor vehicle components and systems.
• Distributes motor vehicle supplies.
• Inventories parts and equipment.
• Maintains records on work performed and parts used.
• May maintain and repair heavy construction equipment.
• May provide guidance to others.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
