Regional Safety Manager
Role OverviewThe Regional Safety Manager (RSM) ensures compliance with all OSHA regulations, leads defense against citations, and manages training, injury protocols, and claims processes. The RSM oversees on-site inspections, data analysis, and development and enforcement of preventative safety measures while supporting local leadership to improve safety performance.
Primary Responsibilities- Conduct periodic on-site safety inspections, analyzing work practices to determine safe and efficient methods.
- Monitor regional safety metrics and trends to proactively address emerging risks and ensure continuous improvement.
- Document information in relevant reports and analyze data to recommend controls.
- Facilitate quarterly SQP reviews with regional and district leadership, providing insights and action plans based on data trends.
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures comply with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Defend against OSHA citations.
- Complete and file Notice of Contest and represent the company in all OSHA inspections.
- Oversee regional delivery of training programs for managers, supervisors, and field employees; develop new training programs as needed.
- Assist local office management in identifying potential safety issues affecting overall safety performance for an assigned operating unit or company.
- Manage injury and claims processes, including developing injury/illness treatment protocols and OSHA recordkeeping.
- Supervise the Site Safety Coordinator(s) and Area Safety Manager(s), ensuring compliance and effective execution of daily site operations.
- Develop and implement regional safety strategies aligned with corporate safety goals and initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and professional development to Area Safety Managers and Site Safety Coordinators.
- Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned.
- Report directly to and maintain open communication with the Regional Safety Director.
- Five years of experience in safety and risk management programs or occupational safety and health programs supporting similar responsibilities.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or related field. CHST, GSP, ASP, or CSP a plus.
- Experience in high-rise structural concrete construction preferred.
- Familiarity with construction safety work rules, Supervisor Safety Manuals, OSHA Part 1910 and 1926 regulations.
- Understanding of state workers’ compensation laws and reporting requirements.
- Ability to travel and work on construction projects up to 60%.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
