Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Regional Director, this position performs advanced (senior‑level) managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of Garner State Park. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultural and natural resource stewardship
- Financial management, including budget planning, preparation, and monitoring
- Revenue management and human resources management
- Law enforcement and public safety programs
- Maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and equipment
- Leased concession management
- Customer service, public relations, marketing, and promotion
- Interpretation and education
- Coordinating special events
- Engaging in community outreach, volunteer development, and coordination of partnerships
- Identifying, developing, and administering program budgets
- Performing additional duties as assigned and working under limited supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Seven years of experience in one of the following areas: natural/cultural resource management, interpretation or education, general maintenance, public safety, promotions or public relations or marketing.
- Four years of experience as a supervisor or team leader.
- Valid Texas Class C driver’s license (obtained within 30 days of employment).
- Degree in Park Administration, Recreation and Parks, Wildlife/Fisheries Science, Natural and/or Cultural Resource Management, Forestry, Biology, Anthropology, Archaeology, or History.
- Experience as a supervisor in park operations/management (revenue, budget, personnel, and visitor services).
- Experience in public relations and volunteer management.
- Experience in high‑volume visitation and managing complex park operations.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to park operations.
- Knowledge of cultural and natural resource management.
- Knowledge of accounting and revenue collection.
- Knowledge of interpretive/educational programming.
- Knowledge of maintenance management and human resource management.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Personnel management and effective supervision of employees/volunteers.
- Public relations and building partnerships with volunteer groups, concessionaires, and outside agencies.
- Customer service in a courteous and professional manner.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Independent, timely decision making.
- Business operations and facilities management, including repairs.
- Equipment usage oversight.
- Interaction with staff at all levels and other state agencies.
- Establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
- Fiscal control plan development.
- Correspondence, reports, presentations, and special assignments.
- Maintenance, repair, or construction coordination of park facilities and equipment.
- Financial systems, budgets, purchasing, revenue collections, inventories, and agency property management.
- Handling complaints, emergencies, stressful situations, and large groups.
- Teamwork and supervisory abilities.
- Concession contract management.
- Assistance with law enforcement operations.
- Enforcement of park rules and regulations.
- Manual labor (lifting up to 50 lbs.) and compliance with TPWD safety program.
- High visitation public park with overnight camping and day use.
- 40‑hour week with irregular hours; evenings, weekends, holidays.
- Response to emergency situations.
- Outdoor work in adverse weather.
- On‑site housing with a monthly deduction; may live in state housing.
- 10% travel with possible overnight stays.
- Compliance with TPWD dress, grooming, safety standards; state vehicle operation.
- Non‑smoking environment in state buildings and vehicles.
