Job Title: Coordinator of Custodial Services Wage/Hour Status:
Exempt
Reports to: Director of Facilities Pay Grade: 303
Dept./School: Maintenance
Primary
Purpose:
Direct, coordinate, and oversee custodial operations across all district facilities. Ensure campuses and support buildings are maintained at high standards of cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency through effective planning, supervision, and resource management.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Valid Texas Driver's License
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of custodial methods, practices, and industry standards
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety protocols (OSHA, SDS)
- Strong personnel management and leadership skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple sites, projects and event set ups
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in budgeting, inventory control, and recordkeeping
- Minimum 5 years of custodial experience (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in custodial or facilities operations (preferred)
Responsibilities and Duties:
Custodial Management
- Respond to emergencies and after-hours situations as needed, including weather events, facility emergencies, and urgent operational issues
- Support district initiatives, special projects, and campus operational needs
- Provide assistance during district events requiring custodial coordination
- Maintain flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet district needs
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
- Personal computer and standard office equipment (copier, printer, phone)
- Work order and facilities management systems (e.g., Operations Hero)
- Inventory and procurement systems
- Custodial equipment including buffers, auto scrubbers, burnishers, vacuums (wet/dry), carpet extractors, and pressure washers
- Hand and power tools for minor repairs
- Chemical dispensing systems
- Floor care equipment (stripper machines, orbital scrubbers)
- District vehicles (light truck or van)
- Directly supervises custodial supervisors, lead custodians, and district custodial personnel. Provides leadership and oversight for all custodial operations district-wide, including staff performance management, training, scheduling, and compliance with district standards. Responsible for conducting performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary actions, and ensuring consistent implementation of custodial procedures across all campuses and facilities.
