We are seeking a Chief of Party to join our International Projects team in Upper Nile and Unity State, South Sudan. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritans Purse are to help people in Jesus name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities- Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
- Direct and oversee the Food Assistance program within given budgets and project deadlines, ensuring that all program goals are met through proper planning, staffing, and implementation.
- Ensure project activities comply with international and Samaritans Purse standards and meet donor rules and regulations.
- Manage the grant budget within approved spending levels, and ensure accurate and timely financial reports to donors and to appropriate Samaritans Purse South Sudan and International Headquarters staff.
- Discuss plans and strategies with relevant stakeholders, including government authorities, UN agencies, other humanitarian actors, and Samaritans Purse partners, to ensure proper understanding and coordination of project objectives.
- Make regular visits to project field sites, providing staff support, addressing programmatic challenges, and exploring future program possibilities.
- Directly supervise 5‑10 non‑supervisory employees and 2 supervisory employees, carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Samaritans Purse policies and applicable laws: interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Experience in directing and overseeing Food Assistance programs within budget constraints and project timelines.
- Knowledge of international standards and donor regulations for humanitarian projects.
- Ability to manage grant budgets and provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Skills in stakeholder engagement: discussing plans and strategies with government authorities, UN agencies, other humanitarian actors, and partners.
- Experience conducting field visits and providing staff support while addressing programmatic challenges.
- Leadership and supervisory experience: hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution for a mix of non‑supervisory and supervisory staff.
