Summary
The Adult Services Supervisor provides leadership for the Celina Public Library's adult services operations, including staff supervision, adult programming, outreach services, digital inclusion initiatives, collection development, and community engagement.
Under the general supervision of the Library Director, this position hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff; serves on the Library Management Team; chairs library committees; develops and administers policies and procedures; manages vendor relationships; oversees outreach services including the Bookmobile; handles escalated customer concerns; and assists with library budget planning. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, and a commitment to innovative, accessible, and equitable public library services.

EssentialJob Duties
- Manages Adult Services operations, including programming, outreach, collection development, readers’ advisory, technology instruction, volunteer coordination, and customer service.
- Oversees Outreach Services, including Bookmobile operations, senior and homebound services, off-site programming, and initiatives serving underserved populations.
- Develops strategies to expand library access, strengthen community engagement, and address barriers to service.
- Supervises assigned staff, including work assignments, training, performance management, professional development, hiring, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Develops and evaluates adult programs supporting lifelong learning, workforce development, digital and financial literacy, civic engagement, and recreation.
- Oversees adult collections and reading initiatives in collaboration with Technical Services staff.
- Leads digital inclusion efforts, including technology instruction, lending programs, public technology access, and individualized assistance.
- Assists with Library policies, operational planning, budgeting, financial procedures, grants, and continuous service improvement.
- Builds partnerships with City departments, schools, nonprofits, businesses, healthcare organizations, civic groups, vendors, donors, and Friends of the Library.
- Represents the Library at community and professional events and serves as Person-in-Charge in the Library Director’s absence.
- May be subject to working extended hours, nights, weekends, and assisting with emergency service coverage when needed.
- Represents the Library at service clubs, civic organizations, professional conferences, and community events.
- May conduct formal or informal training workshops for Library staff, City employees, and community organizations.
- Travels to attend meetings, conferences, outreach events, and professional development opportunities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Participates in professional library organizations, committees, and continuing education.
- Regular and consistent attendance during assigned work hours is essential.
Provides instruction, supervision, coaching, and leadership for the Adult Services Unit, including librarians, technicians, assistants, outreach personnel, and volunteers as assigned. This Unit is responsible for most outreach services, including deploying the Bookmobile.
