Overview
Cimarron is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support our partnership with Firefly Aerospace at their rocket production facility in Briggs, TX.
Through this partnership, Cimarron supplies skilled technical talent in support of Firefly Aerospace’s advanced launch and space systems. Firefly designs and builds small- to medium-lift launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles for government and commercial missions from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Together, our teams leverage advanced carbon composite structures, patented propulsion technologies, and common components across platforms to move fast, improve reliability, and deliver payloads at a lower cost.
KeyDuties
- Lead the transition of products from development into full-rate production.
- Maintain end-to-end ownership of fabrication, assembly, and checkout procedures for propulsion subassemblies and complete engine builds.
- Drive continuous process development and improvement to significantly increase production rates and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Lead investigations into process failures and drive issues to root cause and resolution.
- Own the development, testing, and qualification of new production processes.
- Participate in design reviews and provide manufacturing and producibility feedback to design teams.
- Own and continuously improve assembly, integration, and work instructions in collaboration with technician teams.
- Develop and execute functional checkout procedures and processes, as applicable.
- Disposition nonconformances throughout the build process and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct manufacturability reviews and implement design improvements to support efficient production.
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 3 or more years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role.
- Proven experience supporting complex assemblies, such as those found in aerospace, aviation, or automotive production environments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex technical and manufacturing issues.
- Experience working effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey assembly methods, troubleshooting approaches, and technical guidance.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
- Demonstrated experience performing work that requires extreme attention to detail and sustained mental focus.
- Ability to perform effectively in high-stakes, high-pressure environments with aggressive deadlines.
- Strong critical-thinking skills with sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 5 or more years of experience in an aerospace production environment.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing techniques, including welding, brazing, casting, additive manufacturing, forging, and spin forming.
- Experience working with cryogenic systems and high-pressure pneumatic systems.
- Working knowledge of modern manufacturing principles such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Hands-on experience with complex system assembly, preferably within space systems or aerospace applications.
- Experience developing and writing assembly procedures or technical documentation for mechanical, electrical, or structural systems.
- Experience writing test plans and procedures and defining clear pass/fail criteria for system-level testing.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Python or advanced Excel functions.
- Working knowledge of fluid components and integrated fluid systems.
