Position Introduction / Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a senior-level Machinist to support our partnership with Firefly Aerospace at their rocket production facility in Briggs, TX.
Through this partnership, Cimarron supplies skilled technical talent in support of Firefly Aerospace’s advanced launch and space systems. Firefly designs and builds small- to medium-lift launch vehicles, lunar landers, and orbital vehicles for government and commercial missions from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. Together, our teams leverage advanced carbon composite structures, patented propulsion technologies, and common components across platforms to move fast, improve reliability, and deliver payloads at a lower cost.
The selected candidate for this position will need to be able to work 1st and 2nd shift assignments.
Key Duties- Machine high-quality parts in accordance with engineering requirements and production standards.
- Read and follow technical drawings and diagrammed work instructions.
- Inspect, measure, and document manufactured parts to ensure quality and compliance.
- Perform machine setups required for part manufacturing.
- Make program or offset edits as needed to maintain part quality.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Immediately report any safety, quality, or maintenance concerns to management.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Hold oneself to a high standard of workmanship and take pride in producing quality parts.
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 6 or more years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
- Ability to support 1st or 2nd shift assignments.
- Passion for building spacecraft and rocket components.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and regularly lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Positive attitude with a strong sense of reliability and teamwork.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid math skills applicable to machining and inspection tasks.
- Proficient computer skills for documentation and production-related systems.
- Experience working with Mazak machines.
- Experience operating or programming 4- and 5-axis CNC machines.
- Experience with mill/turn machining operations.
- Experience working with DMG Mori machines.
- Experience working with Okuma machines.
- Experience operating vertical turn lathe (VTL) machines.
