Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly‑owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
POSITION OBJECTIVEThis position exists to guide and coordinate train crew switching activities to ensure safe and efficient rail movements in compliance with company policies and procedures.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY- Read and understand switch lists.
- Determine most efficient plan for switching duties.
- Respond to switching request from loading areas.
- Operate yard and track switches safely and efficiently.
- Identify and report observed railcar damage.
- Ensure safety of switching operations.
- Coordinate with Rail Operators on movement and placement of railcars.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures including but not limited to ISO, personnel, quality, environmental, health, safety, regulatory and company requirements.
- Work outside normal shift hours as needed.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Comply with NTG (Nothing Touching the Ground) requirements, including daily audits.
- Be active in Operation Clean Sweep, and ensure employees are aware of and accountable for pellet loss prevention, containment, cleanup and disposal.
- Previous Related Experience
Required:
Minimum of one (1) year of railroad switching experience utilizing a locomotive as the switching power, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Use of two‑way radio communication.
- Operation of track switches and handbrakes/air brakes.
- Coupling and uncoupling railcars safely.
- Safe operation of UTV’s and yard vehicles.
- Use of PC and applicable software.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.
- Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
