Operators (DSP, USP & Maintenance)
Operators play a critical role in supporting engineers and operations by keeping our pilot plant, cultivation systems, and facilities running smoothly. Whether working in processing, greenhouses, or across the site, this role offers firsthand exposure to innovative protein extraction processes in a fast-moving food manufacturing startup. You’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate and lasting impact by supporting daily operations, improving processes, and helping scale a novel, sustainable production system, while growing alongside the company.
DownstreamProcessing Operator (DSP)
- Operate downstream processing equipment on a daily basis to support pilot plant and production activities.
- Set up, manage, and verify process plumbing lineups, including hoses, hard lines, fittings, and tank connections.
- Execute routine processing tasks such as equipment sanitation, solution preparation, and charging of processing systems.
- Support preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs of processing equipment as needed.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, and R&D to support process refinement and continuous improvement.
- Accurately follow documented procedures and contribute to process documentation updates when applicable.
- Adhere to all applicable GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety standards at all times.
- Perform hands‑on routine and non‑routine cultivation operations, including pond cleaning, maintenance, and biomass harvesting.
- Monitor greenhouse environmental conditions and Lemna plant health to ensure consistent, high‑quality biomass production.
- Collect, record, and enter operational and cultivation data accurately and consistently.
- Work safely and effectively in hot, humid greenhouse environments for extended periods of time.
- Follow standardized operating procedures and contribute to operational consistency across shifts.
- Assist with preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and upkeep of cultivation and greenhouse equipment as needed.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, and R&D teams to support process optimization and scaling efforts.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety standards.
- Perform routine and non‑routine maintenance across the site, including greenhouses, ponds, processing areas, and outdoor facilities.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and basic repairs on equipment, pumps, plumbing, mechanical systems, and site infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot equipment and facility issues to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
- Support installation, setup, and modification of equipment, systems, and site improvements as needed.
- Maintain site cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness in support of food safety and production requirements.
- Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Processing teams to prioritize maintenance needs and address operational issues.
- Follow work order systems, maintenance logs, and documentation practices accurately and consistently.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety standards at all times.
- Some prior experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Knowledge of safe work practices in a facility manufacturing environment.
- Experience in basic technical/mechanical manufacturing.
- Ability to do basic math functions (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
- Must be able to convert standard units of measurement.
- Forklift Certification or the ability to complete certification within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to stand 8+ hours a day, reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early morning, evening or night shifts, as needed.
- Experience in chemical processing and automated control systems is a plus.
- Experience in hydroponics/aquaponics is a plus!
