QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Tyco forklift/over-the-road driver’s license is required.
- Significant knowledge of material movement transactions in the SAP system is required.
- Ability to read bills of lading, packing lists, and bills of material.
- Judge to store parts to determine correct or optimal locations and stack height.
- Understand production priorities and is self‑determined by material handler.
- Instrumental in time, space and action planning to anticipate production needs.
- Input to management regarding system improvements or operating methods improvements.
- Haz Mat Training and Certification required within 6 months.
- Following verbal instructions and using own independent judgment, transport supplies and finished materials with a lift truck, visually checking load or weight counting.
- Record data on material completion, CNS removal, or transfer tickets with scanner or other means.
- Verify correct counts and part numbers.
- Load and unload trucks and rail cars by hand or with a forklift.
- Verify count, type and condition of material received from fabrication or trucking firms.
- Report type and quantity of damaged material received for items shipped directly to assembly area.
- Notate damage on receiving slips for material control and complete a shortage/damage report.
- Receive incoming materials, parts and supplies from outside vendors; verify quantity on packing slip.
- Use bar code scanner and printer to properly receive, identify and distribute to appropriate storage location.
- Knowledgeable of safety procedures for handling hazardous substances such as acids and caustics.
- Move scrap from production or assembly areas to storage location with lift truck and maintain inventory records of scrap.
- Verify counts or weigh counts material.
- Issue parts and supplies from cribs as needed, filling out proper forms.
- Visually count or weigh counts material.
- Order inventory for production areas when needed from warehouse.
- Operate a truck for transporting material and products between warehouse and other locations when necessary; unload flatbed and boxcars.
- Perform minor maintenance on trucks and perform maintenance and safety checks on forklifts, filling out record sheets.
- Fill LP gas tanks when necessary.
- Conduct daily inventories to assure proper materials are available to support production requirements.
- Assist in annual inventory in warehouses and other factory locations.
- Maintain housekeeping and orderliness in assigned areas, perform and complete the 5’s assignments.
- Work with supervisor to determine the most efficient method of material storage.
- Know proper methods in loading and unloading semi‑trailers and vans to minimize damage.
- Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
- Comply with safety rules.
- Attend and participate in safety training.
- Participate actively in the safety process.
- Ask questions if something isn’t known.
- Report all accidents and injuries immediately.
- Submit suggestions to improve safety.
- Know responsibilities in the event of an emergency (fire, chemical spills, tornadoes, etc.).
- Be a coach to others who are acting unsafely.
- Must have lock‑out tags after 6 months.
- Attend and participate in all hazardous and non‑hazardous waste trainings.
- Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels.
- Spill management and clean‑up.
- Know air shutoff locations.
- Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
- Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.
