Location: Stanton

Position Summary

Shift: 2nd shift 1:30–9:30pm M‑F with overtime as needed. Rate of Pay: $23.57–$26.21 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Work from blueprints to determine proper assembly, filling, and packaging requirements for hand portable fire extinguishers.
  • Test pressure and fill FE36 shells with the correct dry chemical (FE36). Stamp, clean, package, and palletize finished product according to production orders.
  • Inspect shells for fabrication defects, record processed and rejected shells, and perform minor maintenance on gluing apparatus to ensure proper operation.
  • Assemble extinguisher components using hand tools, pad components, pressurize shells to 50/120/240psi prior to leak testing, and operate semi‑automatic dry‑chemical filling machines (including overhead hoist for heavy units).
  • Weigh filled extinguishers, apply visual seals, add component parts and labels, stamp packages with lot and part numbers, and perform final inspection before shipping or carting for shipment.
  • Support training and development of peers, and perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18years of age and a high‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to retain large volume of product knowledge, read nameplates and production orders, set dials on filling machines, and perform basic math and computer operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including accurate record keeping (inspection logs, scrap tickets, daily timecards, and production counts).
  • Proficiency with hand tools, air wrenches, riveters, and knowledge of startup/shutdown procedures.
  • Ability to recognize chemical hazard labels, manage spill clean‑up, and follow safety and waste‑management procedures.
Environmental, Health, and Safety Obligations
  • Comply with all safety rules and attend mandatory safety training.
  • Actively participate in safety processes, ask questions, and report all accidents and injuries immediately.
  • Submit safety improvement suggestions and be a coach to others who practice unsafe behavior.
  • Maintain lock‑out procedures after six months of employment and attend hazardous waste trainings.
  • Recognize chemical hazard labels, conduct spill management, and follow air shut‑off location requirements.
