The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations across the manufacturing facility to ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and workplace safety. This position leads the maintenance team in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, facility upkeep, and equipment improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and support production goals.
The Maintenance Manager works closely with Operations, Production, Safety, and Quality teams to maintain a proactive maintenance culture focused on continuous improvement, equipment performance, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on leader with strong technical knowledge, problem‑solving abilities, and experience managing maintenance operations in a fast‑paced industrial or manufacturing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES Production and Operations Management- Oversee all daily powder coating operations, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are consistently met.
- Manage workflow, staffing, and departmental priorities to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Coordinate with fabrication, welding, assembly, and shipping departments to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery of finished products.
- Monitor production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
- Ensure all coating applications meet customer specifications, company standards, and quality requirements.
- Maintain department organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
- Establish and maintain powder coating quality standards, including coating thickness, adhesion, cure validation, and finish appearance.
- Inspect finished products and ensure compliance with company and customer expectations.
- Troubleshoot coating defects and implement corrective actions related to surface preparation, curing, application techniques, or equipment performance.
- Collaborate with Quality Control personnel to support inspections, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor powder usage and material consumption to ensure cost‑effective operations.
- Lead, train, and develop powder coat department employees, promoting accountability, teamwork, and professional growth.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning for the powder coat department.
- Promote a positive work environment focused on safety, communication, and operational excellence.
- Coordinate employee training related to equipment operation, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper operation and preventative maintenance of powder coating equipment, ovens, conveyors, wash systems, and related tools.
- Partner with maintenance personnel to troubleshoot equipment issues and minimize production interruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels for powder, chemicals, and consumables to support uninterrupted production.
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new equipment, technologies, or process improvements.
- Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations related to powder coating and manufacturing operations.
- Ensure employees utilize required PPE and follow safe operating procedures at all times.
- Partner with Safety personnel to conduct audits, training, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with environmental regulations related to powder coating operations and hazardous materials handling.
- Collaboration through additional tasks may be needed to support company‑wide manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of powder coating systems, surface preparation, curing processes, and industrial finishing techniques.
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
