As a Machinist II – Second Shift
, you’ll set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and NC machines to produce quality parts that meet print and hold tolerance. You’ll be trusted to run jobs correctly, catch issues early, and keep production moving with confidence.

What You’ll Do- You’ll be relied on to keep machines, parts, and quality on track.
- Set up and operate machines using blueprints, drawings, specifications, and sample parts
- Interpret dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences accurately
- Measure, mark, and prepare materials for machining
- Select and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
- Calculate and adjust speeds, feeds, coolant flow, and depth of cut
- Load, retrieve, and make edits to CNC programs as needed
- Monitor machines during operation and intervene before issues turn into scrap
- Adjust offsets and tooling to maintain tolerance and part quality
- Inspect finished parts to verify print and quality requirements
- Run and evaluate trial parts to confirm setup and program accuracy
- Troubleshoot machining and program issues directly at the machine
- Verify and adjust common G and M codes
- Operate higher-complexity machines with confidence and care
- Communicate effectively with engineers, programmers, and teammates across shifts
- Support continuous improvement efforts, including Lean practices, PMs, 5S, and Kaizen
- Understand how second-shift performance impacts overall production goals
- Work safely, ethically, and with respect for workmanship standards
- Perform other duties as needed to support the team
You’re experienced, dependable, and steady.
High School diploma or GED with at least two years of machining experience
, or equivalent hands‑on background
Demonstrated readiness to operate at the Machinist II level
Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and CNC operations
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on the floor
Solid math skills, including fractions, decimals, and standard units of measure
Commitment to safety, quality, and doing the job right — even when no one’s watching
This is hands‑on manufacturing work.
Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and loud noise
Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and non‑weather‑related heat
Risk of electrical shock in certain areas

Physical RequirementsRegularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Stand, walk, and move throughout the shift
Use hands for tools, materials, and machine controls
Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
